Safe, Caring Environment

Henry students have a positive outlook on learning and good social behavior. Our school culture emphasizes values such as personal responsibility, and disruptive behavior is not tolerated. Research shows that students in safe, caring environments excel academically. We regularly document safety and discipline issues at Henry so that we may address them quickly and effectively.

Staff members also help students work through problems at school. Students learn skills to help resolve conflicts with others before those conflicts escalate. An IB education also reinforces caring and respect for others, as well as self-reflection.
Henry Middle School is one of only eight middle schools in Denver selected to participate in the Safe City Restorative Justice Program, in partnership with the City of Denver. In lieu of suspension or expulsion, eligible students take part in four after-school workshops focusing on self-esteem, goal-setting, healthy relationships, and conflict resolution. Students also complete a community service project. Referrals to the program are based on an assessment of the student.
